Dr John Mathew, Associate Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at IISER Pune, was recently featured in an article in the English-language daily The Hindu. Dr Mathew has two doctorates to his credit, one in Ecology and another in the History of Science. His research interests include the History of Biology, Environmental and Evolutionary History, the History of Science in the Non-West, and Organismic Ecology. He is also a playwright, an author, a poet, and a music composer. He is currently working on a play about Uthram Thirunal, a mid-nineteenth century ruler in the princely state of Travancore.
